Glim is small, and it's staying that way.

No advertising means no investors, no growth targets and nobody to answer to except the people using it. Which also means it only exists if you want it to.

Tell one person

The only marketing this app will ever have is someone sending a link to a friend. One is enough.

Tell us what's broken

Ugly button, confusing screen, a word that doesn't make sense. Small complaints are the most useful kind — they're the ones nobody bothers to report.

Test it before anyone else

When the first build is ready it goes to a handful of people who are willing to use something unfinished and say so honestly. That's the whole qualification.

One email, nothing else. No newsletter, no countdowns, no "just checking in". Reply to it and you're off the list.

Chip in

There's no payment link yet — it felt dishonest to ask before there was anything to use. When there is, it'll be here, and it'll be optional forever.

Where the money goes

Storing photos for a million posts costs about this much, every month:

R49  a month, for a million posts

That's the entire running cost of a social app that doesn't spy on anyone. It's also why Glim doesn't need ads: the bill is small enough that the people using it can cover it.

No subscription, no paywalled features, no "premium" tier that quietly removes the things free users need. If a day comes when the app costs more to run than this, we'll say so plainly and ask — not start selling your attention.

Every rand spent on Glim so far has come out of one pocket — mine. No investor, no loan, no company behind it. That's the reason the app can promise the things on the first page: nobody has bought a share of your attention, so there's nothing to repay.

What support actually buys

Time, mostly. And the bill.

Glim is being built by one person in South Africa. Support doesn't buy a billboard or a launch party — it buys the hours to finish the app, and the storage to keep it running once it's up. That's it, and that's plenty.

Thank you for even reading this far.

Most people won't. The ones who do are the reason it's worth building.
